Growing protectionist measures in the U.S. have not had a great impact on Canadian small business, an RBC Royal Bank vice-president says.
“Evidence substantiates the position that growing protectionism measures have not had a great impact on the profitability of Canadian SMEs [small and medium enterprises] and that these enterprises have focused on other markets lately, other than the U.S., to take advantage of growing opportunities or refocused their efforts on the domestic economy,” Marie-Lynne Desrochers, vice-president of business accounts and global transaction solutions, told a Canadian American Business Council policy forum in Vancouver on Friday.
